If you spend any time on social media, you'll have seen the term "butter skin" everywhere. Skin as soft as butter, luminous, creamy, that seems to glow from within. It's the beauty trend defining the summer and it has far more to do with treatments than with make-up — a favourite look at our salon 25 minutes from central Madrid.

What exactly is Butter Skin?

Butter skin (literally "skin like butter") is a trend inspired by Korean beauty that prioritises deep hydration, a strengthened skin barrier and a radiant finish that comes from within, not from a layer of product on top. It's not the matte effect nor the extreme glass skin: it's something in between, warm, creamy and very natural.

What defines it is that soft, even skin texture, the luminosity without oily shine and the look of well-nourished, well-rested skin. To get it for real, a moisturiser alone isn't enough: water and nutrients have to reach the layers where the skin needs them.

The key: butter skin isn't achieved with make-up. It's achieved with genuinely deep-hydrated skin. And that requires actives to reach the dermis, not just sit on the surface of the epidermis.

The treatments that make butter skin possible for real

At Esencia Estética we have two treatments that deliver exactly that effect: denser, more luminous skin with hydration you can see and feel.

Facial mesotherapy by electroporation

We introduce hyaluronic acid, vitamins and peptides directly into the dermis with an electroporation handpiece. Absorption is 70–80% versus 5–10% of a topical cream. The immediate result is visibly more hydrated, plumper skin with a luminosity that lasts for days.

Galvanic current with vitamin C serum

Galvanic current helps actives penetrate through a different mechanism: ionisation. Vitamin C delivered in depth brightens tone, evens complexion and gives that "glow" effect that's exactly what butter skin is all about.

The Esencia butter skin protocol: a combined mesotherapy + galvanic vitamin C session achieves the effect in a single visit. The skin leaves luminous, soft and with that creamy texture that's so on-trend. Ideal before a special occasion, a trip, or simply because your skin deserves it.

How to keep it up at home

Between sessions, the most important thing is to respect the skin barrier: gentle cleansing, layered hydration (light serum first, cream after) and daily sun protection. Butter skin falls apart as soon as the epidermal barrier is damaged by over-exfoliation, unprotected sun exposure or aggressive products.

Butter skin isn't a make-up trend. It's the result of genuinely well-hydrated skin. And that's only achieved by working on it from within.
