Your skin in January is not the same skin you have in July. Nor is October the same as April. Every change of season is a small revolution for your dermis: temperature shifts, humidity shifts, sun shifts, habits shift. And if you don't help it along, your skin notices. From our salon in Campo Real, 25 minutes from central Madrid, here's how we look after skin all year round.

Why seasonal shifts hit your skin so hard

Skin has its own adaptation mechanisms, but it needs time and the right support to settle into new conditions. Sudden temperature changes, swings in ambient humidity and shifts in sun exposure are the three big disruptors of skin balance.

When these factors change quickly, skin reacts: flaking appears, extra oil shows up, dehydration hangs around, redness flares, or you get that classic "my face just looks tired and I don't know why" complaint. That "I don't know why" almost always has an answer: the skin is in transition and it needs help to finish that transition properly.

Your home routine isn't enough at the change of seasons. However good your daily skincare is, there are cellular renewal processes, dead-cell build-ups and microcirculation shifts that only professional treatment can resolve. It's like trying to deep-clean a house with a single cloth: it only reaches so far.

What happens to your skin in each season

🌸
Spring
The problem

Sebaceous glands wake back up, pores look more dilated, breakouts can appear after winter. The skin's immune system reactivates and sometimes it does so with redness or sensitivity.

→ Deep cleansing + sebum control + calming
☀️
Summer
The problem

The sun builds up silent damage: latent dark spots, thickening of the stratum corneum, paradoxical dehydration (oily skin, no water underneath). A tan "camouflages" real damage.

→ Protection + light hydration + antioxidants
🍂
Autumn
The problem

The season for repairing summer damage. Spots start to surface, skin looks duller, radiance drops. The perfect moment for deeper treatments: peels, mesotherapy, pigmentation work.

→ Renewal + brightening + regeneration
❄️
Winter
The problem

Central heating dries the skin out more than cold weather does. Water loss speeds up, the skin feels tight, dehydration lines start to show. Superficial circulation slows down.

→ Deep hydration + nourishment + circulation boost
Seasonal facial treatment with manual technique at Esencia Estética

The treatments we run at Esencia Estética through the year

Spring — Clean and rebalance

After winter, skin arrives at spring with a slightly compromised barrier and sebum that has gone off-piste with the temperature swings. Our spring seasonal treatment combines a deep-cleansing facial with comedone extraction, sebum regulation using specific actives (niacinamide, zinc, salicylic acid) and a calming mask that gets the skin ready for the warmth ahead.

It's also the ideal moment to start a mesotherapy cycle before summer arrives: skin then reaches the sunniest time of year with hydration reserves and antioxidant defences fully topped up.

Summer — Protect and refresh

In summer the treatments adapt: less aggressive exfoliation, more hydration, more antioxidants. Galvanic current with a Vitamin C serum is one of the most popular treatments at this time of year because it brightens, evens tone and protects against sun damage without sensitising the skin.

We also run summer-adapted deep-cleansing facials: gentler than the autumn ones, focused on clearing pores of excess sebum and sweat without disrupting the hydrolipidic barrier.

Autumn — Repair and renew

Autumn is my favourite season for facial treatments. The sun no longer punishes, skin is ready to receive more active treatments, and there's enough time before winter to see real results.

It's the perfect moment for Dermapen + mesotherapy protocols (cellular renewal + deep hydration), for starting to work on summer's dark spots with tranexamic acid or in-depth Vitamin C, and for HIFU if you want firming before Christmas arrives.

Winter — Nourish and activate

In winter the priority is hydration and nourishment. Hyaluronic acid mesotherapy is the star treatment of this season: skin drinks it in like a sponge and results are immediate and lasting. We complement with circulation-boosting techniques — facial massage, Kobido — so the skin doesn't look dull and lifeless through the coldest months.

The secret behind skin that always looks well cared for isn't genetics. It's consistency: adapting your care to what your skin needs at each moment of the year, rather than sticking to the same routine forever.

How do you know which treatment your skin needs right now?

It's not always easy to work out on your own. Skin may be sending you signals you're misreading: tightness that looks like dryness but is actually a shortage of ceramides; excess oil that looks like hypersecretion but is really dehydration in the stratum corneum; redness that looks like an allergy but is capillary fragility from the cold.

That's why at Esencia Estética we always start with a diagnosis before proposing anything. Five minutes really looking at your skin are worth more than any generic protocol.

Personalised diagnosis
We assess the real state of your skin before every treatment — no generic protocols.
